Computer Art Project #1: digital collage

so for homework we were asked to collect pictures of ANYTHING we liked and wanted to use in our collage. i think this has been one of my favorite homework assignments out of the trillion i've completed throughout my lifetime. as most of you already know, i'm always online browsing through art and photos so this assignment just makes what i usually do legitimately productive :) anyways so as i was browsing i stumbled across a few things that i thought were absolutely stunning! for example, PEACOCKS! have you ever noticed how pretty and creepy they are? i love the colors on them.. and how their feathers look like giant eyeballs staring at you 8)

anyways this isn't a peacock

but it's equally as colorful and pretty look at :)

Goodbye Summer, Hello Year 3

Jessica Kung is officially back in action in Long Beach! -sigh- it is definitely bittersweet though. It's fun being back on campus meeting new people, living away from home, seeing friends from previous semesters, etc. buttttt i'm not so sure i'm ready to get back into the never ending cycle of work :P My first class, Classical World Greece & Rome, wasn't that bad. The material seemed fairly interesting and the teacher was definitely not bland and boring. Then came Life drawing. I feel lost already -.- Why are art professors always so vague? All i know is that i'm supposed to draw a skull, some sets of hands and feet on four 18x24 sheets of paper, and a mirrored self portrait by next wednesday.

Quick Question..

what medium is it supposed to be in?!

charcoal? graphite? pen? color pencil? conte crayon? on bristol? newsprint?

how many hands and feet are we supposed to draw on each sheet of paper?

are these supposed to be line drawings or fully rendered...?

and where the heck am i supposed to get a skull to draw?!

if only i thought of all this before i left the classroom..

i would ask her this wednesday BUT this wednesday is one of her furlough days so we won't even be meeting for class -.-

Hello Atlanta

Where did my day go?

The airplane took off around 2:30pm

My flight was 4 hours long

when i arrived in Georgia it was 9:00pm

how does that happen you might ask?

time zone shifts suck when you are traveling east..

it's as if i my plane was a time machine and i fast forwarded through my day :P

traveling alone wasn't as bad as i thought it would be

it's kind of fun being alone and semi-lost :)

it's like an adventure!

luckily we had mini TVs on the back of the airplane seats

otherwise i don't know what i would have done during those hours

i had the pleasure of watching Spongebob and the foodnetwork to pass the time

and since i didn't get to eat lunch i bought a 'Flight Delight' box

it was super cuteee i should've taken a picture of it!

It was basically a box of snacks and it came with pita chips, hummus, dried apricots, a Toberlone bar, a mini deck of cards, almonds, and a Cliff bar. Yummy :9

blehh im too tired to write about the rest of my night.

just know we went to Vortex and had delicious monstrous burgers!

I think i found what i was looking for

Some people are searching for a job, some people are looking for a lover; their soulmate perhaps, and actually some people are even trying to find THEMSELVES. You know, trying to figure out what they were meant to do in their lifetime.. Me on the other hand, i have been in search of (drumroll please) the perfect chapstick. Yes you read it correctly, the perfect chapstick. Now before you read any further, i must warn you that this might be the most useless thing you will ever read. Unless of course, you are interested in a mini chapstick review 'cause after all, who in their right mind would want to waste their money on chapstick like i have :)

This all started when i went to Okinawa towards the end of May. I lost my $20 'Too Faced' lipgloss in the midst of travel and was in no mood to buy another one because 1.) it's twentyfreakindollars and 2.) it is way too hot in the summer for me to care about makeup&lipgloss. You see, I haven't used chapstick in years so i didn't know which one to get so i went with a stick of the oh so popular 'Burt's Bees Lip Balm.' I've always hated how minty lip products felt so i went for the pomegranate one. After a couple of weeks i found myself avoiding putting on chapstick because i hated how it smelled. So i made another trip to target and decided to try a stick of 'SoftLips' (you know the long skinny brand?). I remembered using it in elementary so i thought i'd give it another shot. I really liked how It was 1/4 the size of the other chapsticks, but after a week i noticed that ironically, it seemed to have the opposite effect of the brand's name itself.. I felt as if it made my lips more chapped! haha i didn't even know that was possible!! I let one of my friends try it and it had the same effect on them so it wasn't just me! So that was another fail.. Third time's a charm right? Next i tried 'Nivea: a kiss of Moisture'. Did you know Nivea made chapstick? Cause i sure didn't. Although it sort of had a glue-stick look to it, i absolutely loved the packaging. The cover/cap was royal blue and the simple white font against it just made me want to buy it. It smelled pretty good. It smelled like a really light white cherry icee. Unfortunately, i once again found something i didn't like about it. It felt too thick. I felt like i was using vaseline.. i never liked that thick gooey feeling. -sigh- I really wished i liked it. It was SO CLOSE TO PERFECTION! Pretty packaging, smelled nice, did not make my lips chapped -.- Then today, i found myself in the chapstick section at target once again for the 4th time. I didn't want to try 'Carmex' because the packaging always reminded me of car grease and pesticide, i was never interested in the regular 'ChapStick' brand because i didn't like how the original black labeled one smelled, so i decided to go for 'Blistex Silk&Shine'. I'm not even sure why i decided to give Blistex a shot because not only was the packaging not appealing at all but I've always associated that brand with people who had cold-sores (blistex sounds like blister which reminded me of cold-sores? idk) but the labels said nothing about cold-sore treatment so i decided to give it a shot. To my surprise i actually really like it. FINALLYYYY! It smells the best out of everything that i've tried so far, it goes on smoothly and moisturizes without leaving a sticky feeling PLUS it has SPF 15? haha :) i love it! The only thing i would change is the bland purple packaging buttttttttt i guess i could live with it. My search is finally over!

Summer Nights

I've always loved sunsets. Have you ever noticed how pretty sunsets are during the summer? I love it when the sky is a gradient from blue to orange. It's kind of sad to think that the intense orange comes from pollution in the air but how can you deny that it's beautiful? It's so nice to be outside at night during this time of the year. I love how i can be outside without feeling like i'm going to freeze to death in the darkness :P If only i could find a perfect spot to see the skyline as the sun goes down.. I feel like the only time i get a good glimpse of the sunset is when i'm driving down the freeway where there aren't any huge buildings blocking my view -.-
